FAQ & Help

Most questions are answered directly inside the app. Open Yachtlantis and tap Settings → Help & FAQ for the full searchable knowledge base in 40 languages.

Common topics:

Top 5 — most-asked questions

1. How do I cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions are managed by the platform store, not by Yachtlantis directly:

  • App Store (iOS): open Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions → Yachtlantis → Cancel Subscription. The cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
  • Play Store (Android): open the Play Store app → Profile icon → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → Yachtlantis → Cancel.
  • You keep paid features until the period ends; no refund window applies after the 14-day legal cancellation period (EU consumer law).
  • In-app shortcut: Settings → Subscription → Manage deep-links you to the right store page.
2. Where is my data stored — and how do I export it?

Yachtlantis is offline-first: every entry first lands in your device's local IndexedDB. Optional encrypted sync runs to Supabase (Frankfurt, EU).

  • GDPR-Export (Art. 20): Settings → Privacy & Data → Export all my data generates a single ZIP containing JSON + PDF for logbook, anchor sessions, maintenance, costs, photos, AIS-encounters.
  • Logbook-only PDF: Logbook → ⋮ menu → Export PDF renders a print-ready ship's-log PDF for the boatyard or insurer.
  • Export is unlimited and free for all tiers (legal requirement under GDPR Art. 20).
3. NMEA 2000 connection — what hardware do I need?

Yachtlantis reads NMEA 2000 via a Wi-Fi or USB gateway. Two devices are battle-tested on Sebastian's Bahia Gloria (Volvo Penta D12 Twin) and recommended:

  • Yacht Devices YDEG-04 — engine-gateway with combined NMEA-2000 / J1939 read (best for diesel-twin setups; consumed by Tab 19 Engine Health).
  • Yacht Devices YDWG-02 — Wi-Fi NMEA-2000 gateway for general telemetry (RPM, depth, GPS, wind, AIS).
  • Actisense NGT-1 USB and NGW-1 Wi-Fi are also supported via the standard NMEA-2000 PGN parser.
  • Setup: Settings → NMEA & Connectivity → Add Gateway → choose vendor → enter Wi-Fi SSID/password. Auto-discovery works on most boat-network configurations.
4. How do I invite a co-owner?

Yachtlantis supports shared boat ownership via the Owner Community feature:

  • Open Settings → Owner Community → Invite Co-Owner.
  • Enter the co-owner's email; they receive a one-tap join-link valid for 7 days.
  • Define their share (% or fixed €) for cost-splitting; this drives the trip-cost split-by-share calculator.
  • Co-owners can read/write logbook entries, maintain a shared booking-calendar, log fuel and costs against their share, and see consolidated month/quarter cost-reports.
  • Owner Community is a Pro+ feature; Free tier is read-only for invited co-owners.
5. How do I delete my account / export then delete my data?

All GDPR data-subject rights (Art. 15-22) are exposed in-app — no email request needed:

  • Step 1 — Export: Settings → Privacy & Data → Export all my data (ZIP). Recommended before deletion so you keep a copy of your logbook.
  • Step 2 — Delete: Settings → Account → Delete Account. A 30-day grace-window applies (your data is soft-deleted; you can cancel within 30 days). After 30 days the account, every logbook row, every photo and every AIS-encounter row is hard-purged from Supabase. This is irreversible.
  • Anchor-watch sessions auto-purge after 12 months regardless of account status. AIS-encounter rows auto-purge after 90 days (see Privacy §7).
  • If the in-app flow is unavailable (e.g. you can't sign in), email planung@ep-kolar.at with the subject "GDPR Account Deletion". We respond within 30 days as required by GDPR Art. 12(3).
