Crew and On-Board Chat

A motor yacht is rarely run alone. Yachtlantis keeps the crew and the thread the boat talks in — separate from the private messages on the phone.

The crew, with or without an account

Crew management is unlocked from the Pro tier. Guests can be kept on the list without holding an account of their own — whoever comes along once does not have to sign up.

The same tier carries the emergency sheet with the procedures step by step. The distress information itself is not gated; the procedures are the paid part.

The on-board chat

The on-board chat is unlocked from the Skipper tier. There are direct messages with confirmed contacts, and a thread of its own for every fleet and every trip.

For decisions on board there are polls with two to ten options. At most three messages can be pinned per thread — the limit holds not only in the display but in the database itself.

A text message can be corrected for fifteen minutes. Only text is correctable; an image or a position is not altered after the fact.

Why not simply the usual group chat

A thread that hangs on the boat rather than on a phone number survives a change of crew. The trip thread belongs to the trip, the fleet thread to the fleet — and the logbook knows who was at the helm.

Seeing AIS targets nearby needs the Skipper tier; that is a different capability from the chat and sits elsewhere.

The limit of three pinned messages is not a display rule. It lives in the database, and anyone changing the number in the interface changes only what is shown — the rule itself stands.

The crew list is also the list the trip wallet counts on, and the emergency sheet covers the whole complement, not only the owner. A crew that existed in the chat alone would be missing from the settlement; that is why it is a list and not a distribution group.
